UFC 98: Yushin Okami vs Dan Miller

March 03, 2009 By: MMAVu Category: Dan Miller, UFC 98, Yushin Okami

Forgotten middleweight contender Yushin Okami makes his return as he takes on the scrappy Dan Miller.

Okami, who missed out on his title shot against Anderson Silva back at UFC 89 due to an injured hand, continues his climb up the ladder towards a title shot. It just doesn’t seem right that a top contender can fall down a few rungs just because of an injury. See Parysian, Karo. Nevertheless, Okami is on such a climb, and a win will put him right back in the mix along with Nate Marquardt and Damien Maia.

He will be facing former IFL middleweight champ, Dan Miller who currently has a spotless 3-0 record in the UFC. Miller is a gutsy guy, and that will take him a long way in the UFC. See Sakara, Alessio.

I’m pulling for Okami on this one. The guy has a 7-1 record in the UFC for pete’s sake and hasn’t been given his due, which is a title shot. He even has a DQ win over Anderson Silva back in 2006. Hopefully he can take out Miller in an exciting fashion, and a title shot will (hopefully) be academic at that point.
