On rare instances, a fighter loses and boosts his stock. Clay Guida’s split decision loss to Diego Sanchez Saturday night was one of those losses. Guida took an amazing amount of punishment, including punches, uppercuts and kicks, but gutted it out, showing oodles of heart. In the end, the bigger “good” man won. Unreal heart by Guida and Sanchez, but mostly Guida.The UFC awarded three Fight of the Night bonuses, after the gutsy, gutsy efforts by the fighters that night. Diego Sanchez vs Clay Guida, Chris Lytle vs Kevin Burns, and Joe Stevenson vs Nate Diaz got nods for the bonuses, a cool $25k each.

Thomasz Drwal got the Knockout of the Night over his overweight friend, following a TKO. Drwal also got 20% of Ciesnolevscz’s purse due to his opponent coming in 2lbs over the 205lb limit.

Finally, Jason Dent picked up $25k for Submission of the Night, securing an anaconda choke on his former housemate, Cameron Dollar.
