Tim Sylvia vs Paul Buentello has been added to Affliction’s 3rd card, again at the Honda Center in LA, California on August 1, 2009.

Sylvia’s last fight was the main event of Affliction’s debut card, where he took on Fedor Emelianenko back in July 2008. He lasted 37 seconds before being hammered and choked out. It will be over a year once he gets back in the ring vs Buentello, but he will have a little warm-up match, if you will. Big Timmy is scheduled to take on Ray Mercer of boxing fame, at Adrenaline III in Birmingham, Ala., June 13. Mercer will be 48, I repeat, 48 years old. It’s a straight boxing match, but…damn. Isn’t that considered senior abuse? This match was not approved by the New Jersey Athletic Commission…so the promoters moved the fight to Birmingham, which has no athletic commission. Smooth.

Buentello has fared a bit better since leaving the UFC, going 5-1 with his lone loss coming to Allistair Overeem. And he isn’t planning on beating up any seniors either.

Thus far, Affliction 3: Trilogy looks like this:

Main Event:
WAMMA Heavyweight Title: Fedor Emelianenko vs Josh Barnett

Main Card:
205lbs: Gegard Mousassi vs TBD
265lbs: Tim Sylvia vs Paul Buentello
