UFC 84: Medical Suspensions

May 30, 2008 By: MMAVu Category: UFC 84

The Nevada State Athletic Commission released the medical suspensions resulting from the UFC 84: Ill Will event that took place May 24 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Sean Sherk: Lost to BJ Penn via TKO, suspended until July 7 with no contact until June 24 due to a laceration to his right cheek.

Keith Jardine: Lost to Wanderlei Silva TKO, suspended until Nov. 21 for a nasal fracture. Jardine can be cleared by a doctor before the November date, but cannot compete earlier than July 24, with no contact until July 9.

Tito Ortiz: Lost to Lyoto Machida by unanimous decision, suspended for six months or until he gets his left hand and wrist x-rayed and cleared by an orthopedic doctor.

Wilson Gouveia: Lost to Goran Reljic by TKO, suspended for six months or until he gets clearance from a doctor for a broken nose and possible cheek. Gouveia also suffered broken ribs.

Kazuhiro Nakamura: Lost to Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou via TKO, suspended for six months or until he gets clearance from a doctor due to a broken nose.

Jason Tan: Lost to Dong Hyun Kim by TKO, suspended for six months or until he gets his broken nose cleared by a doctor.

I’m actually surprised Keith Jardine wasn’t more seriously injured. The knockout looked brutal, and fans in attendance were shocked as well.
